Middle School Student Essay Contest - 2021
iLearn World's essay contest provides an opportunity for middle schoolers to gain writing experience, as well as potential cash prizes, a copy of book
The Road to Yale
by Yale Admitted Students, and opportunities to interact with Yale students. The contest will be open to 7th and 8th graders in the 2019-2020 school year. Students will submit their response to the following prompt by March 31st, 2020:
Online vs. In-person Learning: Which is Better?
Write an essay which answers this question through argumentative, narrative, or creative writing. You may use researched evidence, personal experience, or a fictional story, whichever resonates most with you!
Applications will open December 8th, through the iLearn World website. Essays will be judged and ranked by iLearn World's Ivy-League college students. Winners will receive the following prizes:
- 1st-5th place: $100
- 6th-10th place: $50/student
- 11th-20th: $20/student
- Finalists: 10 students will receive a copy of The Road to Yale
- Semifinalists: top 80. Everyone will be invited to an online conference with a Yale guest speaker.
*The 1st place winner will have the opportunity to nominate their English or Humanities teacher for the iLearn World Teacher of the Year Award, which will provide $100 for classroom supplies.
