Frequently Asked Questions


We require instructors and students to use Zoom for online lessons. Below are instructions on how to join a Zoom conference.

1. Use a laptop. Do not use a phone or tablet.
2. Use earphones with a microphone.
3. To start your lesson, copy and paste the url (something similar to https://zoom.us/j/########## ) that your instructor gives you into the browser and press enter. Click download if you are asked to download Zoom (only the first time).
4. Start audio and video.
5. The following image is what students should see. The "Start Video" button can be found on "Toolbar 1". "Toolbar 2" has buttons that control video layout. The "Request Remote Control" button can be found on "Toolbar 3".



Students can make a payment online by Alipay, Paypal or Credit Card. Payments are processed with Authorize.net, Paypal or Alipay with encryption.

All of our instructors use his/her school email to communicate with students.

We suggest Group Lessons for 3rd to 6th grade students and One-to-one Lessons for 7th grade and up.

iLearn World offers a $50 discount for referring a friend to iLearn World (Note: students who organize 2- or 3-Student Group Lessons or join 30-student Group Lessons do not apply).
iLearn World offers a $100 discount to students who organize a 5-student Group Lesson by inviting 4 friends.



One-to-one Training Frequently Asked Questions

1. Click the "Student Login/Sign up" button on the iLearn World home page, sign up or sign in if you already have an account. This will bring you to the "Menu" page.
2. Click the "Sign up for One-to-one Training" link. This will bring you to the "Sign Up for Services" page.
3. Select the service, time options, instructors, and/or group lesson you would like to sign up, and make a payment.
4. We will contact you within 24 hours to schedule a lesson time.

A minimum of 2 lessons per month is required.

After you are matched with an instructor, the instructor will contact you directly to set up a weekly time that works for both of you.

Each One-to-one lesson is 45 minutes.

If you need to skip or reschedule a lesson, please give the instructor a 24-hour notice or you will be charged for the lesson. No more than one lesson per month may be rescheduled.

For each lesson, the student will be given a book and/or a prompt beforehand. Students must email the essay to the instructor at least 24 hours before the lesson. During the 45-minute lesson, the instructor will teach the student writing skills, discuss the student's essay, and give critiques and suggestions for improvement.

For the spoken English and reading lesson, you will be assigned to read 1-3 iLearn World online reading comprehension passages each week. During lesson time, you and your instructor will review those passages. You can find the reading comprehension passages after you login to the iLearn World website at www.ilearnworld.com.



Group Lesson Frequently Asked Questions

iLearn World has the following Group Lessons for each grade. The difficulty level of English writing Group Lesson is the same as other groups in the same grade. The only difference is the content of the Group Lessons, such as the book lists.

1. Find 1, 2, 3 or 4 friends.
2. Find out a start date and a weekly time that works for all of you.
3. Login to the iLearn World website, then click the link "Start a Private Group Lesson with Friends".
4. Then follow the instructions to choose date, time and instructors.
5. The system will email you the Group Lesson number and make the Group Lesson available for your friends to sign up after you make a payment.

A $100 discount will be given to students who invite 4 friends to join a group lesson.

3. Select the group lesson and/or other service you would like to sign up, and make a payment.
4. A notification with information about the lesson time and Zoom test will be sent to you a week before the group lesson starts.

Students are welcome to invite friend(s) to form a 2-, 3-, 4- or 5-student group. A $100 discount will be given to students who invite 4 friends to join a group lesson. Click "Start Your Own Private Group Lesson" to start a Group Lesson with friends.

Usually a 10-session Group Lesson will finish in 3 months (13 weeks). Occasionally, if the instructor cannot make a session due to a conflict, the instructor will give a 24-hour notification directly to students.

For each lesson, the student will be given a book and/or a prompt beforehand. Students may submit the essay by either following the instructor's instruction or logging on to the iLearn World website 24 hours before the lesson. During the 50-minute lesson, the instructor will teach the student writing skills, discuss the student's essay, and give critiques and suggestions for improvement.

Your instructor will create a shared folder or Google Document on Google Drive. Please upload your essays to the shared folder or paste your essay onto the Google document.
